About the artist
Anel Rodriguez was born and raised in Southern California. Her travels to Mexico and Europe in her early teens ignited a passion for art that grew with each new artist she discovered and every new city she explored. She was fascinated by, not only the art of these old countries, but the streets, its buildings, its people and their culture. Shortly after, she began to paint and experiment with photography. She continued to study sculpture, ceramics, drawing and painting at Orange Coast College. After recieving her Associate of Arts degree, she moved on to receive her Bachelor of Arts: Theatre Arts degree with an emphasis in scenic design at Cal State Fullerton. With theatre, Anel was able to explore her creativity and grow as an artist, incorporating her fine art skills into visual and performing arts. At Fullerton, she gained further knowledge of art history, architecture and interior, scenic and costume design. Since graduating, she has been experimenting with mix media, integrating her artistic abilities and design training without boundaries.
Currently, Anel works as a freelance artist. She continues to explore many mediums and her work is vast. She has recently been creating zines of her photography and art. Anel continues to be inspired by her travels and these trips are the focus of her photography. Her mix media art will always be influenced by her Mexican heritage. Her culture and upbringing are a predominate influence in her artwork.
